Need a parking spot? Text your neighborhood

A new company is offering Park Slope residents a service that allows them to find open parking spaces via text messaging.

ParkingAroundMe enables drivers to find open spots and give away the spots they were parked in when they?re ready to leave. The program was launched a week ago and so far, only exists in Park Slope.

Experts say about 64 percent of traffic in Park Slope is caused by drivers slowly circling the streets to find spots. On average, it takes drivers 27 minutes to find street parking.
