More NYC schools get As on progress reports

A Williamsburg high school is among the top five schools in New York City, according to city school report cards.

The progress reports, which are part of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's school accountability program, gave 45 percent of Brooklyn high schools an A.

Though the graduation rate at Williamsburg Preparatory School jumped from 37 percent in 2004 to 85 percent in 2008, overall grades for Brooklyn schools were mixed. There were 10 percent more Cs and four percent more Ds.

Officials say underperforming schools will face leadership changes or closure.
