Mom: P.S. 5 school nurse misdiagnosed child
A Bedford-Stuyvesant mother says she will file a lawsuit against P.S. 5 after the school nurse allegedly misdiagnosed her daughter.
Rasheeda White says her 5-year-old daughter, Ciane Cassidy, broke her front teeth when she was pushed by another student. White says the nurse called her, but assured her Ciane was fine.
White says when she picked up her daughter from school, Ciane had bruising on her face and blood around her mouth. White then took Ciane to the hospital, where she needed emergency oral surgery.
The Department of Education says the principal followed proper protocol, but the incident is under investigation.
