Water partially flooded several Canarsie homes Wednesday morning after a construction crew broke a water main.
The owners of five houses on East 102nd Street say they were informed by firefighters that their basements had been flooded. They were also asked to shut off their water and gas.
Angry homeowners, who have spent the morning mopping up their flooded basements, say a private contractor is responsible for the incident.
A representative of C.A.C. Contractors, the company that was doing work on the street before the incident, says they are trying to determine what caused the flooding.
