Cop in DUI case faces judge, shows remorse
An NYPD officer accused of killing a woman while driving under the influence appeared before a judge in Brooklyn Friday.
Officer Andrew Kelly was arrested last weekend after allegedly hitting and killing Vionique Valnord, the daughter of a Brooklyn pastor.
Kelly's attorney, Arthur Aidala, says the incident devastated his client, a father of two young girls.
On Friday, Kelly brought a condolence card for Valnord's family.
"He told me last night he can not imagine what her family is going through," Aidala says.
Kelly is due back in court Dec. 3. In the meantime, the officer may choose to appear before the grand jury.
