NYPD officer arrested in pedestrian death
(AP) - A New York City police officer is facing vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving charges in connection with the death of a Brooklyn pedestrian.
Authorities say 33-year-old Veronica Valnords was struck shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday at East 56th Street and Avenue N. She was taken to Kings County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police officer Andrew Kelly was arrested. The investigation is continuing.
