The city has ousted 30 people from illegal apartments at 239 Banker St. in Greenpoint.

The tenants were told to vacate immediately Thursday. The Department of Buildings calls the four-story warehouse they were living a "danger zone." An inspection of the site found it had no sprinklers, blocked entrances and no railings on stairways.

The Red Cross says it is helping 13 people who have requested assistance, half of whom will get emergency housing.
