Fire breaks out in Brooklyn high school

A fire at South Brooklyn Community High School forced teachers and students out of their classrooms in an emergency evacuation Monday afternoon.

The building which houses the high school, Good Shepard Services and the Red Hook Family Counseling services was evacuated when the fire broke out in the basement.

Students, faculty and staff had to wait outside for an hour as firefighters worked to put out the fire.

School officials closed the school as a safety precaution.
