Fort Greene on high alert after muggings
Residents of Fort Greene are staying vigilant after three people have been mugged in the area over the past three weeks.
The first victim was held at gunpoint on Carlton Avenue between Willoughby and Dekalb streets. Police had arrested two suspects in the mugging, but two more people were later robbed on the same block.
Community leaders are urging people to avoid flaunting their iPods and cell phones in public.
Councilwoman Letitia James says she asked the 88th Precinct to step up patrols on the block. James says she is also working to secure funding for a surveillance camera.
