Police arrested a 24-year-old psychiatric patient Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a nurse at Kings County Hospital.

Authorities say Robert Rush attacked and beat the female nurse into unconsciousness while she was working in the psychiatric ward. Hospital officials have confirmed Rush had also pushed two staff members over the weekend.

Following the alleged attack, the hospital's administration released a statement saying there has been a decline in violent incidents over the past year in the facility's psychiatric program.
