Greenpoint home damaged by construction
Members of a Greenpoint family say they have been homeless since Dec. 8, 2008 when nearby construction cracked the foundation of their home, forcing them out.
John Ippolito says workers excavating the construction site dug too deep, causing his home to split open. Contractors on site say the damage was inflicted upon an illegal basement in the Ippolitos' home.
Ippolito says crews told his family the repairs would be finished by the end of December, but the Department of Buildings permit says the work could take until June 2010.
