A video taken during a waiting room brawl at Brookdale Hospital has been placed on the Internet and viewed tens of thousands of times.

The video shows nearly a dozen people throwing punches in the emergency waiting room, including a graphic scene of a man punching a woman. Hospital officials say the fight, which occurred Aug. 20, is an unusual occurrence and residents should not be discouraged from coming to the emergency room.

Residents say the fight is not surprising. Hospital officials say a security guard stationed in the waiting room followed protocol and called for back up before intervening.
