Residents: Fences block waterfront access
Greenpoint residents say they are fed up with what they call illegally gated streets near the waterfront.
The residents say they can't get to the waterfront from Java, Kent and Noble streets. On top of blocking waterfront access, residents point out that weeds are taking over the sidewalks in the fenced area.
Councilman David Yassky (D-Brooklyn), says the problem is so bad he has written a letter to the city's deputy mayor for economic development demanding the gates be taken down.
