A report released Tuesday by a road safety advocacy group says New York City drivers aren't being properly ticketed for breaking laws.

According to Transportation Alternatives, city drivers who speed every day will only be ticketed once every 35 years. The report also claims traffic fatalities caused by speeding rose 11 percent between 2001 and 2006, but summonses issued for speeding during the same time period dropped 22 percent.

Road safety advocates say they want the NYPD to ticket more drivers who are disobeying traffic laws, like speeding or running red lights. The group has also called for an office of road safety to be created at City Hall.
