NYC mayor, NYPD officials make public safety announcement.

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to be repaired

The state Department of Transportation discussed the future renovation of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway at public information sessions Monday.
Officials say the rehabilitation was deemed necessary after a recent traffic study showed the roadway would begin to deteriorate in approximately 10 to 15 years. The informational meetings, which were held at the MetroTech Center, showed residents the scope of the project, which will repair the road between Atlantic Avenue and Sands Street.
Department of Transportation officials estimate the project will cost $295 million. The renovation Web site says the project will receive federal and state funding and will take several years.
