Investigators rip hospital in Esmin Green case
The Department of Investigation released its report Friday of Kings County Hospital, which is accused of covering up of the death of Esmin Green last year.
Investigators say the hospital failed to carry out tests and orders, falsified records and had a lack of monitoring. Green, 49, collapsed on the psychiatric emergency room floor after waiting 24 hours for care. Surveillance shows she was on the floor for an hour before hospital staff checked on her, but it was too late.
Green's family reached a $2 million settlement with the psychiatric hospital in a wrongful death suit in May.
Now the Kings County district attorney will evaluate the report by the Department of Investigation as to whether criminal charges will be filed.
