Catholic diocese shutters school in Bath Beach

Students at Most Precious Blood Elementary School in Bath Beach filed into their classrooms Friday for the last time before the school closed its doors for good.
"Today's a very sad day for the children, for the parents and for the community as well," says Lori Perdone.
Most Precious Blood, which has about 220 students, is one of several schools the diocese decided to shut down in order to cut spending.
Many parents who plan to send their kids to other Catholic schools next year are worried they may face a similar situation in the future.
"If you choose to send your kids to Catholic school, it's a risk," says Rose Petrosino.
As school let out for the last time Friday afternoon, students, parents and teachers came together, crying and taking photographs to preserve the memory of the 40-year-old institution.
"Miss McCarthy, my teacher, she said when one door closes, another door opens, so hopefully that'll lead to something good," says Justin Perdone.
