P.S. 10 students try to make school 'green'
Some fifth-grade students at P.S. 10 say they are doing what they can to help make their school more environmentally aware and help their fellow students think "green."
The "Green Dreamers" is an extracurricular activity led by Jane Cyphers, a teacher at the school. Students say they learn important lessons about environmental issues and then try to pass along their knowledge to their peers.
"We try to focus on things to save the world," Robb Bozeman, a student, says.
Some projects the students focus on include recycling education and advocating against Styrofoam trays in the lunchroom. They also hope to make a video to show other schools about going "green."
Though the fifth-graders involved this year will graduate in the coming weeks, Cyphers says she hopes to transform the group into an after-school activity next school year.
