Gay marriage group wary of Albany tug-of-war
Distractions with who is in power in the state Senate has gay marriage advocates rallying for their cause Sunday as they hope their issue doesn't hit the back burner.
Supporters of the bill to legalize same-sex marriage called for state senators to take action on the proposal before the legislative session ends later this month.
"I'm worried it's going to get pushed to the side because of what's happening now," says Grant Neuman, a same-sex marriage bill supporter.
The bill already passed in the Assembly, but supporters want it passed in the Senate for Gov. David Paterson to sign before the session ends.
"We don't want change happening here to distract people from the importance of getting this to the floor," says Libby Carothers, a member of Marriage Equality New York.
