Ice cream jingles out of tune with residents
Some Greenpoint residents say ice cream trucks are causing a neighborhood nuisance by playing their jingles too frequently and too loudly.
Neighbors say the trucks blast music from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. to lure customers. Though the familiar tunes are a sign of summer, residents say it feels like living inside a music box.
One ice cream truck operator warns his fellow businessmen that it is illegal to play the jingles while parked. Neighbors encourage residents who spot ice cream trucks playing their music while stationary to report it to police.
Locals say the music has lessened over the past week, but ask ice cream truck drivers to play the songs less during the evening.
