Program provides help to survive downturn

A Brooklyn organization is helping residents keep their finances in check during the economic downturn.
Career Gear provides development workshops and financial advice, which residents say is sorely needed to survive the economic crisis.
"After you count so many pennies, it adds up," says Mike Obertacz, of Career Gear. "Doesn't matter how small it is, just keep track of it and be honest with yourself."
Career Gear advisors also suggest clients keep a close eye on their credit score by paying bills on time and using credit cards sparingly.
