Multimillion-dollar drug ring shut down
Authorities busted a massive drug ring working in Brooklyn and Staten Island, one Brooklyn's DA says was a violent, multimillion-dollar operation.
Erik "Fat Eddy" Rodriguez, the alleged leader of the ring, now waits behind bars. Rodriguez and 42 others face a mass of charges, including first-degree conspiracy and criminal possession of a controlled substance, while he and five others are also accused of attempted murder charges.
District Attorney Charles Hynes says Rodriguez's drug sales raked in more than $2 million a year operating a 24/7 drug delivery service.
Investigators say this was the ring that supplied narcotics to two drug dens on 93rd Street in Bay Ridge that were raided last summer, and locals say the area is now much different.
