Police question suspect in bodega murders

Police are questioning a person of interest in the murders of a bodega owner and his son last week in Crown Heights.

According to authorities, police received a tip informing them 50-year-old Charles Judd, who is currently at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, was one of the men involved in the attempted robbery of the Utica Ave. bodega and the murders of 55-year-old Mohammed Monsoor Abuzaid and his 18-year-old son, Abdul Kareem Monsoor Abuzaid. Police say the two men were shot to death when they tried to defend their business from the robbers.

Police believe Judd is from the Crown Heights neighborhood and has a previous criminal record. Sources say he was just finishing up his parole. Authorities are still searching for a second suspect and ask anyone with information about the murders to please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
