Mom sues hospital over baby mix-up

A mother from Crown Heights is suing Brookdale Hospital for allegedly giving her newborn baby to another mother to breastfeed just hours after the baby?s birth.

According to Shatiesha Brown, the hospital staff separated her from her baby daughter after her birth because Brown was suffering from high blood pressure. While Brown was recovering, nurses placed her daughter in another mother?s arms to breastfeed.

Brown says her daughter has been refusing to breastfeed from her since the incident. She also claims the baby has not bonded with her or the baby?s father because she was breastfed for the first time by another woman. Brown is currently seeing a psychologist to help her deal with the stress of the situation.

Brookdale Hospital says it cannot comment on this case at this time.
