Architect Frank Gehry told a newspaper Wednesday that the Atlantic Yards project, which would bring the New Jersey Nets to Brooklyn, may be canceled.

In an interview with The Architecht's Newspaper, Gehry said, "The Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn ? I don't think it's going to happen. That would be devastating to me."

However, the Nets CEO Brett Yormark addressed the issue in an appearance on WFAN radio in New York City Wednesday, and assured fans and listeners that the project would proceed. Yormark estimates that ground will be broken this summer and the Nets will move to Brooklyn for the 2011-2012 season.

Yorkmark says the only remaining obstacle before starting the project is an eminent domain lawsuit. According to Yormark, the Nets are scheduled to plan a pre-season game at Saint John's University in October, which will function as the team's "coming out party" in New York City.
