Brooklyn building evacuated due to cracks
Tenants of a Brooklyn building were forced to evacuate Wednesday after fire officials discovered cracks throughout the apartment complex.
Residents of 8001 New Utrecht Ave. say wherever inspectors saw cracks, they made holes to ensure the walls of the building were sound.
After conducting a structural stability check, officials have determined the apartment complex was safe and allowed residents to return to their homes.
Inspectors say the superintendent of the building is supposed to hire workers to fix all the cracks. Tenants were told that all repairs will be completed by Wednesday night.
