Brooklyn's posh communities see spike in crime
While overall the number of murders, rapes and burglaries has gone down in Brooklyn since last year, several usually quiet neighborhoods are experiencing a crime surge.
According to NYPD ComStat sheets, such affluent communities as Park Slope and Carroll Gardens have seen a 13 percent increase in grand larceny.
However, there is also good news. Murder is down over 80 percent in Brownsville and 33 percent in East New York.
Brownsville residents attribute this recent drop in crime to the efforts of the 73rd Precinct, which patrols their neighborhood.
