Truck plows into Greenpoint building
A tractor-trailer slammed into a Greenpoint building Monday, prompting an emergency inspection of the structure.
The truck collided with a car just after 7 a.m., sending both vehicles crashing into the three-story building at 51 Kent Ave. No one was seriously injured in the crash.
The ground floor of the building used to be a bar and has been vacant since the 1970s. Bill Graham, the owner of the building, was at the scene when the crash occurred.
"Early this morning, I heard two loud noises and felt a shudder in the building, came downstairs and found this large tractor-trailer and the car that hit him?in my building," said Graham.
Emergency workers are checking the condition of the building to see if it is still safe.
