One woman is dead and four other people were hospitalized after a fire broke out at a Clinton Hills apartment.

Fire officials say seven family members were trapped by flames inside Apartment 11F at 470 Dekalb Ave. before firefighters arrived. When help arrived, 45-year-old Geraldine Taylor was found in cardiac arrest.

The woman and four others, including a 1-year-old and two other young children, were rushed to Brooklyn Hospital Center. Taylor was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Officials say the children suffered minor smoke inhalation.

Neighbor Andre Nash was one of the first at the scene. The family friend says he rushed upstairs to find the apartment engulfed in black smoke.

Fire officials say the flames did not spread to any other apartments in the building.
