Residents sound off on Coney Island's future

Coney Island neighbors and business owners gathered at Lincoln High School Wednesday evening to discuss the area's rezoning and future.

A public meeting was held to allow residents to comment on the proposed scope of analysis planned for the Draft Enviromental Impact Statement. Concerns include how the rezoning will affect transportation, parking and noise. The plan also studies how the changes will affect air quality.

Residents who couldn't make the meeting have until the end of the month to mail in written testimonies.

"It's really important that the public that lives here and comes out to Coney Island tells us what type of impacts are here now and what type of impacts they foresee as a result of the zoning," says Lynn Kelly, President of Coney Island Development Corporation.
