Black leaders in BK rally behind Sen. Obama
Many black leaders in Brooklyn have chosen to endorse Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) in a move that some call a betrayal to Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.).The last-minute endorsement marks a change in the ways black political leaders have typically voted. Black leaders such as Congressman Charles Rangel endorsed Clinton from the very beginning. However, days before Super Tuesday, others are rallying behind Obama as their presidential choice.?Many people are excited about the fact that he was against the war from the beginning,? said Karim Camara. ?Excited about his language. Excited when they see him in person.?Councilman Charles Barron, another supporter of Obama, sees the shift as empowering.?It's a break loose from those who were so afraid to buck the party,? said Barron. ?Those who are not afraid to break loose from the establishment.?
