Gunshot victim, explosives found in Brooklyn Heights
A man faces charges after police found an explosive device in his Brooklyn Heights apartment Sunday, causing evacuations.
Police responded to a gunshot call around 1 a.m. at 58 Remsen St., where they say they found a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also allegedly discovered an explosive device in his home.
Authorities have not released the man's identity, who was taken to a hospital.
The building was evacuated, as well as nearby Hicks and Montague Terrace streets. Authorities removed the bomb from the scene and detonated it elsewhere.
