Citywide vigils held to remember Nixzmary Brown
Family and friends of Nixzmary Brown, along with concerned citizens, gathered to hold a candlelight vigil in front of the apartment where she was found dead exactly two years ago.
One group, called Nixzmary Lives Forever, said that it was important to remember the tragedy so similar crimes won?t occur in the future. Members of the group also think that the Administration for Children?s Services, the agency that drew heavy criticism for their handling of Nixzmary?s case, has stepped up their efforts to protect the city?s children.
Similar memorials took place around the city as Nixzmary?s stepfather, Cesar Rodriguez, is set to stand trial for her murder.
