A woman is dead and her husband hospitalized after a domestic dispute that took place in their Bushwick home Monday, according to police.
Police tape remained at the Madison Street home Tuesday as relatives mourned Maribel Hernandez, 26. Investigators continue to sort out the details of the deadly incident.
According to police, Hernandez's 41-year-old husband, whose name has not been released, fatally shot the victim before shooting himself in the head. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The Administration for Children's Services confirms four young children were taken from the residence unharmed.
A cousin said Hernandez was trapped in an abusive relationship with a jealous man. However, a friend of the husband told News 12 Brooklyn Hernandez slapped her husband in a store hours before the shooting.
"He was dedicated and she was very abusive," said Daniel Aleman. "Very abusive woman."
