An elderly pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in Sunset Park Friday, but a couple of Good Samaritans made sure the driver did not get away.
Witnesses say a minivan struck 73-year-old Francisco Guerrero while he was crossing the street. They say the car kept going, but then stopped a few feet down the road. The driver, Lawrence Meyers, got out of the car and tried to run down the street, according to witnesses.
A barber and a livery cab driver who saw the incident went after him. The two caught the driver, forced him back to the scene and waited until police arrived, bystanders say.
Police say charges against Meyers are pending.
