Twenty-eight Brooklyn middle and elementary schools were added to the state's "In Need of Improvement" list Thursday, while some found their way off the list.
More than 400 schools whose students failed to make the grade in standardized math and English tests under the No Child Left Behind Act comprise the list.
The Brooklyn schools that were removed from the list include J.H.S 265, the School for International Studies, Medgar Evers Prep School, East New York Family Academy, I.S. 240, P.S./I.S. 323 and P.S. 116.
Schools on the list will receive additional funding to improve achievement. Administrators must also implement plans to change course. Eligible students will receive supplemental educational services.
Schools that fail to make the cut under improvement plans face restructuring or the possibility of being phased out of the system.
