Student in Bensonhurst diagnosed with 'superbug'

(10/31/07) BENSONHURST ? Parents in Bensonhurst are worried about their children?s safety after learning a student at P.S. 101 was diagnosed with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, last week.
The diagnosis is just the latest in a string of MRSA cases in Brooklyn and throughout the U.S. One Brooklyn boy, 12-year-old Omar Rivera, died from the drug-resistant ?superbug? on Oct. 14. Rivera was a student at I.S. 211.
The principal of a Bed-Stuy school, P.S. 3, confirmed Monday a student there was also diagnosed with MRSA.
Officials at P.S. 101 said the school was disinfected over the weekend. Parents dropping their children off on Wednesday said their kids are just too young to fully understand the situation.
