Cops: Driver jumps curb, hits pedestrians in BK
An unlicensed driver lost control of her car Tuesday and hit several pedestrians in downtown Brooklyn, according to police.
Officials said the 29-year-old passenger was trying to move the parked car near Court and Montague streets when she barreled into a crosswalk. She also hit a curb and went into a bus stop under construction, according to police.
The driver narrowly missed an outdoor market.
"It sounded like a bomb, that's how bad it is," said witness Walid El-Sharif. He also praised others for rushing to aid victims. "In a matter of five minutes, everyone was here." The driver and several others were taken to area hospitals. Police say none of the injuries are life threatening.
Police say charges are pending against the unlicensed driver.
