Toddler grazed by bullet on head in Weeksville

Police say a bullet grazed the head of a 3-year-girl in Weeksville Saturday.

Authorities say the incident happened at 6:45 p.m. at the Kingsborough Houses. Police say the girl was hit by the bullet while walking with her family to the market.

The child was taken to Kings County Hospital and is in stable condition.

Elderly members of the community say gun violence is rampant in the area and mostly involves young people. Some say they are afraid of many children in the neighborhood.

Police are telling residents they need to speak up if they witnessed anything related to Saturday's incident. They say nothing will change in the neighborhood until people come forward with information.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg Wednesday in Weeksville. Police confirmed it was another boy who shot him.
