The price to cross the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge may soon be going up if the MTA has its way.
The agency is considering hiking the price from $9 to $10 when traveling into Staten Island. Some drivers expressed concern that the bridge is already one of the most expensive to travel across.
The MTA will hold hearings on the matter in November and plans to decide the issue in December. The agency is also considering fare hikes for subways, commuter rails and buses to close a budget gap.
Congressman Vito Fossella says he plans to fight the increase if the MTA passes the proposal.
