Cops confiscate 25 cats from Canarsie house
Law enforcement confiscated 25 cats from a Canarsie home Tuesday, answering some neighbors prayers.
Several neighbors say they have repeatedly complained to the city about problems at the E. 99th Street home to no avail. Residents say they have been dealing with bad odors, flies and stray felines for years from the house.
The problem became so bad, the homeowners housing the cats were forced to sleep in their cars, according to neighbors.
The owner of the cats maintains he was just trying to rescue the animals.
The ASPCA is investigating whether animal cruelty occurred. A spokesperson confirmed many of the cats have ringworm. The felines could end up being put up for adoption.
