Report: Emergency contraception not readily available

A report by the city?s public advocate says New York City?s Health and Hospitals Corporation is failing women and teens by not providing them with enough emergency contraception.
Betsy Gotbaum?s report says only five out of 11 HHC teen health clinics in Brooklyn had emergency contraception ready for same-day pick up. Some believe the trend is dangerous.
Specifically, the report says clinics in Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Bushwick and East New York were among those in the borough that did not provide the same-day pick up.
HHC says the study is confusing the city?s teen health clinics with adolescent health centers, where women can go for emergency contraception issues and medicine. Teen clinics are supposed to provide basic pediatric care.
