Interfaith clergy leaders and politicians gathered on the steps of City Hall Thursday to demand the NYPD stop "terrorizing" Brooklyn and city streets.They said Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly need to change policies and tactics to ensure officers treat citizens with respect.

They also suggested a special prosecutor be hired to handle cases against cops. Protesters called for the Civilian Complaint Review Board, which handles police misconduct complaints, to be overhauled.

Civil rights attorneys Michael and Evelyn Warren agree with the recommendations. The couple was arrested in June after they claim they tried to stop police officers from beating a young person in Brooklyn.

The couple's next court date is in October. They say they plan to fight until the end.
