State releases list of 'persistently dangerous' schools

Four schools located in Brooklyn were identified as ?persistently dangerous? in a state report.
P.S. 90, M.S. 571, M.S. 002 and Samuel Tilden High School were among the 27 New York schools listed.
Seventeen schools are new to the list this year, while the remaining 10 had already been included in last year?s study. Eight schools that experienced fewer incidents were able to successfully be removed from the list.
To be included on the list, a school must have at least two consecutive years with at least 60 serious incidents or approximately six incidents for every 100 students.
Complying with the No Child Left Behind Act, federal law demands that the list be made available so parents have the information when choosing schools.
