A Bay Ridge church opened its doors Sunday after being hit with hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage from last week?s tornado.

Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church congregants gathered to pray and sing despite knocked out stained glass windows and other damage.

The pastor of the church said the community turned out to help clean up the sanctuary. ?It's amazing how they put this place together. We have a long way to go but I was very impressed. It took the edge off the heartache,? he said.

Even though church doors are open, congregants are waiting until it?s safe to worship in the sanctuary again.

The church will work with an artist to see if it can duplicate the large stained glass window it lost.
