Con Edison helps Brooklyn residents go green

The Brooklyn Free Lighting Project is helping residents go green without opening their wallets.
The group, a contractor for Con Edison, says it has distributed more than 20,000 energy-efficient light bulbs since February of 2007.
Con Edison is targeting neighborhoods it feels are at high risk for summer power outages. Those neighborhoods include Prospect Heights, the Flatbush Corridor, Canarise and Coney Island.
Residents say they have received telephone calls from Con Edison offering the service. Representatives then showed up at the residencies to install the new light bulbs.
