Accused cop shooters ordered held without bail
(07/13/07) NEW YORK ? Two suspects in the shooting of two NYPD officers were ordered held without bail during their arraignment Friday afternoon.
Neither Robert Ellis or Dexter Bostic spoke or entered a plea during their appearance before state Supreme Court Justice Richard Allman.
Ellis' attorney though claimed he had not opened fire on eitherof the wounded police officers.
Bostic and Ellis, both 34, were captured in Pennsylvania following an interstate manhunt. They face numerous charges, including attempted murder and assault on a police officer. It is not known if either suspect has legal representation in New York.
A third suspect, Lee Woods, has already been arraigned and is being held without bail. Police said they found one of Woods? fingerprints on a fried chicken box left in a stolen SUV. According to police, officers Herman Yan and Russel Timoshenko pulled over that same SUV when they were gunned down by the suspects Monday.
Officer Yan was released from the hospital. Timoshenko died as a result of his injuries.
