Father and son found dead in apparent murder-suicide

Police discovered the bodies of a father and his son in an apparent murder-suicide in East Flatbush Saturday.

Police say a 42-year-old man shot his 21-year-old son, and then turned the gun on himself. Police said the man left the bathtub faucet running, which caused a leak in the apartment. The leak brought fire officials to the New York Ave. apartment, where the bodies were then discovered.

Detectives said they found a suicide note written by the father. They say he wrote about severe depression. Police on the scene said neighbors told them the father was upset that his son wanted to move out.

Acquaintances and friends said they were distraught to hear the news.
