Side view mirrors swiped again in Williamsbridge
Williamsbridge drivers are looking over their shoulders for vandals who they say continue to swipe side view mirrors from their cars.
According to James Mitchell, his family has been targeted three times. He says he's replaced the glass with cheap $20 mirrors and doesn't understand why anyone wants them.
Police in the 49th Precinct say they arrested a man more than a month ago for possession of stolen property after he was caught with 14 sets of mirrors. However, the suspect was never prosecuted because he wasn't caught in the act.
Drivers are encouraged to contact their local precincts about VIN etching, a free service that engraves a vehicle's ID number onto mirrors and windows.
