A year after a century-old water main broke on Jerome Avenue, some local businesses are still struggling with the water damage.
Nearly every business on Jermone Avenue, from 174th Street to East Tremont Avenue, was somehow affected by the gallons of water that gushed out after the break. The owner of a local African supermarket says his merchandise stored in the basement was unsalvageable.
The supermarket, he says, is still struggling to make ends meet after not receiving any help from insurance or the city.
